The team was able to attend the Wednesday night services yesterday and reports that the praise & worship and teaching were great! As the service broke into small groups, the team was able to visit the various small groups.
They had another great day with VBS and the rotation of classes with the students. They are continuing to prepare for Friday’s celebration. Please continue to pray for God’s presence to be made known to each student.

Pastor Mike reports that Pastor Blake should add 71 to the VBS numbers! The team is conducting VBS for the children the same week as Church of the King’s VBS. This morning Pastor Mike was able to meet individually (30 min. each) with each of the guys who were in his class yesterday to discuss where they were with Christ. Continue to pray as they teach and reach out to these children.
Diane C. reported that the team has worked hard today. They left the hotel at 7am this morning and worked into the regular school routine with the children by reading, helping with flash cards and computer games. The team was able to assist some of the special needs of some of the children by meeting with them one on one. The 8th graders are now writing research papers, the 7th graders are writing book reports. Our team helped the students learn and implement each of the steps necessary. Diane commented that “children are the same all over the world!”
Here’s a cute story – the team was told upon arrival that the warm water was limited, so as the team has showered in cold water the last two days, no one complained. They had to laugh today when someone showed them the hidden knob to turn on the hot water! Good news – no more cold showers!
They have a special end of the week celebration planned where each group will showcase what they have been learning this week – everything from music to dance. The team has put together special goodie bags and will treat the students to ice cream at the celebration.
The weather has continued to be warm, but very breezy with no rain.
Diane C. reports that the first day for the team was a busy and fruitful one! They went to the Children’s home at 11am, where they were able to meet these precious, beautiful children who are well loved by the home. In the afternoon, the team taught classes in rotation: Dance, Thinking Skills, Music and times of reading books aloud to the children. The children were very attentive and very eager to learn. Tomorrow the team will work at the school from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with the morning session devoted to tutoring the students with one-on-one sessions and computer games. The afternoon will be the rotation of classes taught by the team. The team also brought plastic music recorders (flutophones) for all the children to use in the music class and to leave with the school – what a blessing! Pastor Mike taught a class of 8th grade level boys today on “Being a Man of God.” The grade levels are not necessarily age driven and include ages up to 20 years old. The weather has been very pleasant for them, warm and breezy. Please continue praying for the team and for the hearts of these young ones to be touched for Christ.
Sunday evening udpate – The Ghana team arrived safely in Accra, Ghana this afternoon in good spirits minus one piece of luggage. (It will arrive Monday.) They’re tired and are getting a good nights rest. Please continue to pray for maximum Kingdom impact as the minister this week in the children’s home.
