Yakutsk is the capital city of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located about 280 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Yakutsk is a major port on the Lena River. It is served by the Yakutsk Airport as well as the smaller Magan Airport. The region is a major source of diamonds. With an average temperature of 16.2 degrees Fahrenheit , Yakutsk is the second coldest major city in the world after Norilsk, although Yakutsk experiences colder temperatures in the winter. While on the mission trip we can expect temperature to be a comfortable average of highs of 65 degrees and lows of 35 degrees.
The Yakuts, also known as the Sakha people. migrated to the area during the 13th and 14th centuries from other parts of Siberians in the area. The Russian settlement of Yakutsk was founded in 1632 as an ostrog (fortress) by Pyotr Beketov.

Passport Required: All international travel requires a valid passport. The passport must be valid for six months past the dates of travel and must contain at least three blank visa pages.
Domestic trips simply require a valid driver’s license.
Why Do You Need A Color Copy Of My Passport?
The information found on your main passport page is used in purchasing your ticket for an international trip. Airlines do not allow name corrections once the ticket is issued. Color copies are more legible and much easier to read. We ask that you either scan/email the color copy to [email protected] or bring it to your team leader.
Vaccinations: Shots need to be current and proof of yellow fever vaccination.
